WhatsApp Tests Voicemail Feature for Missed Calls – A Game Changer for Users
WhatsApp is rolling out a new experimental feature that adds a voicemail-style option to missed calls, making communication faster and more convenient. The update was spotted in the beta version 2.25.23.21 for Android, as reported by WABetaInfo.
What’s Changing?
With this update, if a WhatsApp voice call goes unanswered, users will now see an extra button labeled “Record voice message”, placed right next to the familiar “Call again” and “Cancel” options. This means callers can immediately leave a quick audio message for the recipient without leaving the call interface.
To make the process even more seamless, the Record voice message option also shows up in the chat window of the person who missed the call. While WhatsApp has long allowed users to send voice notes via the microphone icon in chats, this new integration removes extra steps, making it quicker and more intuitive.
Why It Matters
This feature could be especially useful in urgent situations where the caller needs to leave an immediate update or instruction without typing. By combining missed calls and instant audio messages in one place, WhatsApp is aiming to enhance user convenience and communication speed.
Availability
At present, the voicemail-style feature is only available to select beta testers on Android devices. Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, has not yet confirmed when the update will be released to the wider public or if it will also arrive on iOS in the near future.
