Honor Magic V Flip 2 Launched with 200MP Camera and Record-Breaking Battery
Honor has unveiled the Magic V Flip 2 in China, its latest clamshell foldable smartphone, setting new benchmarks in design, performance, and battery life. Competing directly with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, this device brings a massive 5,500mAh battery — the largest ever in a flip phone — along with a 200MP main camera.
Design and Display
The Honor Magic V Flip 2 maintains the iconic clamshell foldable design but pushes boundaries with premium build quality and displays. The phone features a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED inner screen with a resolution of 2868 x 1232 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness for crystal-clear visibility in all lighting conditions.
On the outside, it carries a 4.0-inch LTPO OLED cover display with 1200 x 1092 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,600 nits brightness.
In terms of dimensions, the device is just 6.9mm thin when unfolded and around 15.5mm thick when folded, weighing 204 grams. It is also highly durable, with IP58 and IP59 water/dust protection and SGS-certified hinge durability. Buyers can choose from White, Gray, Purple, and a limited-edition Blue variant designed in collaboration with Jimmy Choo.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Magic V Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, coupled with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, all based on UFS 4.0 technology for lightning-fast speeds.
It runs on Android 15 with MagicOS 9.0.1, offering AI-driven features and enhanced multitasking. Connectivity highlights include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, ultra-wideband (UWB), and dual SIM support (physical SIM + eSIM). The phone also comes with stereo speakers and a triple-microphone setup for superior audio clarity.
Cameras
Photography is a major highlight of the Honor Magic V Flip 2. The rear camera setup includes a 200MP main sensor (1/1.4-inch size, f/1.9, with OIS) and a 50MP ultrawide lens offering a 127-degree field of view.
For selfies and video calls, there’s a 50MP front camera. Additionally, users can leverage the rear cameras for high-quality selfies through the outer display.
Battery and Charging
The Magic V Flip 2 houses a 5,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest battery ever fitted in a flip-style foldable phone. Charging is equally impressive, with 80W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. Using the wired charger, the battery can recharge to 50% in under 20 minutes.
Availability
Currently, the Honor Magic V Flip 2 is available in China, while details regarding global pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed.
