Zohaib Khan Named Pride of Pakistan for Revolutionizing IT Sector Led Pakistan to Record $3.2B IT Exports, Now Aiming for $10B Milestone

Zohaib Khan Honored as Pride of Pakistan for Outstanding IT Industry Contributions

Muhammad Zohaib Khan, former chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), has been awarded the prestigious title of Pride of Pakistan for his remarkable role in transforming the country’s IT sector. The honor was announced during the 78th Independence Day celebrations at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.

Zohaib Khan stood out as the only P@SHA chairman — and one of the very few IT industry leaders — to receive this national recognition. With more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector, he has represented Pakistan on global platforms, earning numerous awards for his commitment and service to the nation’s digital progress.

During his tenure as P@SHA chairman, Pakistan’s IT exports soared to an all-time high of over $3.2 billion in FY24. Under his leadership, Pakistan hosted the prestigious APICTA Awards for the first time in 2023, marking a significant achievement for the region’s tech ecosystem. He also championed various initiatives, including:

  • Launching IT Export Awards to encourage industry excellence

  • Securing tax incentives at both federal and provincial levels

  • Allowing 50% foreign exchange retention in corporate bank accounts

  • Establishing Tech Destination Pakistan in collaboration with policymakers and a leading private bank

  • Revamping P@SHA’s secretariat and research & development division

Beyond his leadership at P@SHA, Zohaib Khan has played a crucial role in enabling Pakistani IT companies to expand into international markets such as the GCC and Europe.

Currently, he is an active member of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), working towards achieving a new milestone — boosting IT exports to $10 billion in the coming years. Since the inception of Tech Destination Pakistan, he has also been serving as its brand ambassador, promoting Pakistan as a global hub for technology and innovation.

Speaking about his achievement, Zohaib Khan said,

“Pakistan’s IT sector has the potential to be a game-changer for our nation’s economy. With consistent export growth and digital transformation across governance, healthcare, education, agriculture, and banking, we can create a brighter future. I am deeply grateful to Pakistan and the IT industry for giving me the opportunity to contribute to its progress.”

The Marka-e-Haq ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, chiefs of the armed forces, diplomats, and other high-profile dignitaries. Several other individuals were also honored as the Pride of Pakistan for their exceptional contributions in different fields.
